Scott's Rock & Gem has a large inventory of unique specimens. We post photos periodically on this page, featuring some of our current favorites. But, if you don't see exactly what you want, call us! This is just an appetizer!

ajoite

back

Ajoite - front and back views. Nice blue copper blush inside this quartz crystal from Musina, South Africa. Crystal measures 3" long, by 1 5/8" wide, $132.00. SOLD, but we will post another picture soon. Please inquire if you are interested.

Jamner

Chalcedonies - Jamner Region, India. Some of the best of our final shipment of these "sugary" chalcedony druzes over calcite that has been mostly etched away. The collecting area is apparently now a forest reserve, and as such, no more specimens will be collected.

Top: Over 6" long, by 5" tall. $65.00

Bottom Row, left: 4 1/2" long by 3 1/2" tall, $48.00. Middle: just under 4" long by 3" tall, $28.00. Right: 3" long by 1/2" wide, $12.00

 Ammonite.jpg

Fossil Ammonite, Jurassic, Madagascar. We thought the black color and alternating preservation of the chambers made this a rather striking, and unusual piece. Measures 4 3/4" across, the long way. $57.00

 Chlorite

Green Quartz - Madagascar. This is the first time we've seen this interesting color show up in quartz clusters from Madagascar. Probably only a micro-find, as only a small amount was available. Is it chlorite? Chrome? We're not sure. Cluster measures 5" x 3", $16.00

 Stilbite

Above: Stilbite "bloom" on chalky white "stalactites". One of the most unusual pieces that came in one of our recent lots of mineral specimens. A flower of light pink stilbite crystals perches atop coral-like formations, from the Deccan trap basalts of India's Maharashtra State. 4" tall by 2" wide. $26.00

golden

Golden Selenite - Salinas de Paracus, Ica, Peru. Nice richly colored crystals. Piece measures 5" x 4 1/2", Only $38.00. Various sizes available - don't hesitate to inquire.

Cavansites.jpg

Cavansite on Stilbite - Wagholi, Poona, Maharashtra, India. One of the relatively rare zeolites, cavansite is a deep blue calcium vanadium silicate. Nice price on the pieces shown, at only $10.50 Each. Approximately 2" pieces with 1/4" balls.

Vanadinite.jpg

Vanadinite - Mibladen, Morocco. Great looking rectangular specimen, beautifully clustered with rich red hexagonal tabby crystals on most of the surfaces. Measures 5" long x 1 1/2" wide, with the largest crystals measuring just shy of 1/4", only $52.00. Other sizes available. Please inquire.

 StickChalcedony

Chalcedony Sticks - Maharashtra, India. Some of the largest "stalactitic" stick formations from the vugs in the Deccan Trap basalts that we've seen.

Above, Left: 8 1/2" long, $16.00. Right: 10" long, $35.00

Below, Left: Chalcedony "sheep" measures 5" across, $10.00.                 Right: Chalcedony stick with curved strut, measures 9" long. $16.00

FlatCurved

red

Red Tinged Scolecite - Maharashtra, India. Striking burst of crystals with a light red blush of what is probably diffuse heulandite that was present in the formative solutions. What's hidden in this picture is that this spray is bedded on a base of green apophyllite. Measures 4 1/2" by 5 1/2", $48.00

coconut

Coconut Ledidolite - Brazil. Much nicer looking when seen in person. The picture doesn't convey the  intriquing 3 dimensional formations, and mirror reflectivity of the "scales" of mica (like dragon's skin). Just inquire, and we'll send additional photos to show what we mean.

Left: 4" across, by 3 1/2" tall. $47.00                                                                      Right: 5" across by 4" tall. Mushroom shape not visible in photo. $88.00

Trigonia.jpgclose

Scabrotrigonia klamathensis, Hornbrook sandstone, Cretaceous age, approx 65 million years old. Jackson County, Oregon. Slab is 6" X 5" with shell being 1 1/2" at the base. Only $5.50. This is a very local material, not really seen on the fossil market. One of the joys of reaching out with a website, is being able to offer unique self collected pieces.

JeffreyCookeite

Quartz with rare Cookeite, Jeffrey Quarry, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Measures 5" X 4" with light olive green cookeite balls up to 3mm. A beautiful old collectors piece from a closed locality. Very reasonable at $32.00

Above: Natural Ruby Corrundums (India) These hexagonal crystals are hard to find Left (sold) crystals measures 2" long, by 1 1/2" on the face. Price: $97.50

Right crystal measures 2 1/2" long by 2" face. Price: $290

Ammonites3.JPG

Above: Fossil Ammonites, Jurassic, 144 - 206 million years old (Madagascar):

On Left - Cut & Polished Ammonite half, 5" dia, $34.00; On Right - Whole Ammonite, polished, 6" dia. $76.00. Note: These are examples of pieces that are periodically available. The exact fossils pictured may not be currently available, and are being used as illustrations only. Please inquire.

Above Right: Blue Kyanite Blades in Quartz (Brazil) A dramatic cluster measuring 7" wide by 4" tall, not counting the jutting blade. $102

CalciteandMA.JPG

Left: Light Yellow Calcite with Apophyllite on Snowy Quartz. Maharashtra State, India. Nice combination plate, measuring 7 inches wide, and 6 inches tall. Calcite crystal measures 2 1/2x2 inches, and has nice translucency. $82
